Dr. Robert Livingston is now performing a new muscle-sparing anterolateral total hip replacement "Minimally Invasive" approach. This procedure, because it is muscle-sparing, is less invasive than other approaches, allowing the patient to have less pain and faster rehabilitation after surgery. In addition, this approach usually results in a more stable hip; therefore, the dislocation precautions that are used with other approaches are not as strict. Also, because of the muscle-sparing approach, the patient may leave the hospital sooner than with previous approaches. We look forward to providing this service to our total hip replacement patients in the Mid-Coast area.
