Dry Needling

Dry needling is an evidence-based intervention utilized for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system. It is performed by physical therapists, or other qualified professionals, using a filiform needle, which is inserted into the skin to target trigger points within a muscle. Other structures that may be targeted include tendons, ligaments, bones, transitions between muscles and tendons, transitions between tendons and bones, and around nerve pathways in the body.

Balance and Fall Prevention

How is balanced achieved?

Balance is a group effort of the eyes, inner ear, joints and muscles. They each send signals to the brain about body position and head movement. Once these signals arrive, the brain processes this information and provides output for balance. Due to the multiple systems that contribute to keeping us balanced there are many circumstances that can influence these systems, for example, the natural aging process, illness, disease, deconditioning, pain and/or environmental factors.
