The Coastal Ortho team is comprised of a top medical staff and highly trained physical therapists, some of whom have presented research on the national level.

The medical professionals include Board Certified/Fellowship Trained orthopedic surgeon Steven Katz, M.D., nurse practitioner Karmen Blackstone and well-known sports medicine specialist Dr. James Glazer, who works with the U.S. National Ski team. Dr. Glazer is Board Certified/Fellowship Trained and also serves on Maine’s board of concussion management. He also writes widely on sports injury issues.

Dr. Katz performs arthroscopic knee surgery, arthroscopic acl (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstructions and arthroscopic shoulder surgery, arthroscopic elbow, ankle surgery and endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery. He is one of the team physicians for USA Hockey and has been a team doctor for a number of professional and college athletic teams including Auburn University, The Birmingham Bulls and the Portland Pirates. He has a number of national publications on a variety of topics.
